APPOINTED TO FILM DEVELOPMENT BOARD |
26 May 2011: Government of Nepal appointed
Mr. Ganesh Bhandari as the Chairperson
of Film Development Board starting March 26, 2011. The
Council of Ministers appointed Mr. Bhandari after accepting
the resignation letter of former Chairperson Mr. Amar
Raj Giri, which was approved on March 15, 2011.

Mr. Bhandari has a previous
experience as a Chairperson in this organisation from
December 2, 2008 to June 29 2009.

| Film Development
Board Celebrates 10th Anniversary |
30 June 2010: Founded in
30 June 2000, Film Development Board celebrated the 10th
Anniversary of its establishment day on Asadh 16, 2067
(June 30, 2010). More than 200 participants attended the
anniversary. The program was inaugurated by Minister of
Information and Communications (MoIC), Shanker Pokharel.
During the program, Chief Guest Shanker Pokharel released
two books published by Film Development Board, Nepal :
i) Filming in Nepal- A Guide Book (2010),
written & edited by Chiranjibi Guragain and
ii) Chalchitra Munch during the program.

Award and Felicitation Ceremony on August 30, 2010 |

30 August, 2010:
The National Film Awards (NFA) and Felicitation
Ceremony 2010 announced on
Monday, August 30, 2010 at Rastriya Nach Ghar,
Jamal, Kathmandu, Nepal. The National Film Awards is the
most prominent film award ceremony in Nepal. It is administrated
by the Government of Nepal's Film Development Board. Every
year, a national panel appointed by the government selects
the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in Kathmandu.
This year, Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, Rt.
Honorable Mr. Subash Chandra Nembang gives away the awards.
FDB had call for the entries for the National
Film Award for the feature films censored from
the Central Film Censor Board during the year 2063, 2065
and 2066; and films on national languages made and censored
during 2065 and 2066 for the participation. Mr. Uddhav
Paudel, Filmmaker, exhibitor, and distributor has been
decorated with Lifetime Achivement Award
for his contribution for the promotion of Nepalese film
industry with cash amount of NRs. 200,000.
The Government of Nepal conceived the ceremony to honour
films made in Nepal, on a national scale, to encourage
the furthering of Nepalese art and culture.
